This bursary offers up to £2000 GBP/ $2600 USD/ €2350 EUR/ $3700 CAD in financial support for eligible applicants to pursue their chosen learning experiences.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Edwards Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a current individual member of the Institute of Asset Management at Student or Associate level.
- Demonstrate a genuine passion for asset management and a strong commitment to continuous learning.
- Submit a compelling application detailing how the bursary will be utilized and the anticipated learning outcomes.
Diverse Learning Experiences
The Edwards Bursary encourages a diverse range of learning experiences that can help enrich your asset management journey.
Suitable learning experiences include, but are not limited to:
- Courses and Workshops: Choose from a wide array of certificate courses, diploma programs, or short workshops tailored to your specific interests.
- Taught Programs: Immerse yourself in structured educational programs or certifications offered by renowned institutions or organizations.
- Conferences and Seminars: Attend industry events and conferences to learn from experts, share knowledge, and expand your professional network.
- Research Projects: Undertake research initiatives that contribute to the development and dissemination of asset management knowledge.
Application Process
- Application Open Date: 07 September 2026
- You can submit your application and supporting documents to bursary@theiam.org. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
- Application Deadline: 26 February 2027
- Please ensure that your application is submitted by 23:59 GMT on Friday, 26 February 2027. Late submissions will not be accepted, so mark your calendars to avoid missing this crucial deadline.
- Review Period: March 2027
- Our review panel will thoroughly assess all applications by 31 March 2027, ensuring a fair and objective selection process based on the evaluating criteria found in the Edwards Bursary Guidance.
- Outcome Notification: Week Commencing 05 April 2027
- All applicants will be informed of the outcome via email. Please note that this information will be embargoed until the public announcement on 23 June 2027.
- Funding Issued: April - May 2027
- The bursary amounts will be issued to the selected recipients so that they can begin their learning journey.
- Public Announcement and Celebration: 23 June 2027
- The recipients of the Edwards Bursary will be celebrated at the Asset Management Excellence Awards.
- Recipients Complete Chosen Learning Activity: April - May 2028
- Recipients of the Edwards Bursary will complete their chosen learning experience no later than one year after the funding has been issued. Recipients will be required to submit a report summarizing their learning experience and will be asked to present their journey through an IAM Webinar.

About the Edwards Bursary
The Edwards Bursary is a merit-based financial assistance program that provides up to £2000 GBP/ $2600 USD/ €2350 EUR/ $3700 CAD in support to asset management enthusiasts pursuing diverse learning experiences. Through this bursary, the Institute of Asset Management seeks to encourage continuous learning and enhance professional competence.
The Edwards Bursary was announced in November 2022 in recognition of the immense contribution of Richard Edwards to the Institute. Richard stood down from the IAM Board in September 2022 after more than 13 years. He is probably best known within the asset management community for his significant contribution to the IAM knowledge base. Richard continues to represent the IAM on the Global Forum for Maintenance and Asset Management knowledge projects.
